Facebook Product Catalog for WooCommerce

Here’s a short video about how to set up a Facebook Product Catalog for Dynamic Product Ads. It’s recorded in real-time, with no cuts or editing at all. It took me under 3 minutes to complete everything.

Important:

It’s recommended that you import all your products.

Once the products are uploaded, don’t forget to “Associate Event Source”, that is to select the same pixel ID you have on your website WooCommerce website.

When ready, the Product Catalog can be used for Dynamic Product Ads. You can start the ads directly from the Product Catalog page, or by selecting “Promote a product catalog” as your campaign objective.

How did we generate the product feed?

We used our own plugin to generate the feed for WooCommerce: Product Catalog Feed Pro

If you use Easy Digital Downloads, we have a dedicated plugin for it too: Easy Digital Downloads Product Catalog Feed

Variable products:

For variable products, each variation will be treated as an item, meaning that it’s possible to see multiple products with the same image in your Product Catalog. That’s fine because Facebook will probably optimize the ads and will not show the multiple variations to the same user.

However, if you want to avoid it, you can: there is an option in Product Catalog Feed Pro to remove variations from the feed. Check it when you create your feed.

If you do this, it’s crucially important to modify your pixel ID logic: open PixelYourSite, go to the WooCommerce tab and look for an option called “Treat variable products like simple products”. Turn it on, and save the settings. This will ensure that products are matched correctly.
