Control Who Can Access PixelYourSite – User Roles & PermissionsPYS User Permissions

Where: PixelYourSite → Global Settings → User role permissions

These options decide which WordPress user roles can use PixelYourSite, and which of them can see sales data or export customer data.

General plugin use

Roles picked here can open PixelYourSite and change its settings: pixels, events, the UTM Builder, Queue Settings, Licenses, System Report and Export/Import. This also covers the AI connector (MCP) tools.

Administrator is always included and can’t be removed.

WooCommerce/EDD Reports

Roles picked here can view the WooCommerce and EDD sales and tracking reports. These show totals and trends, not individual customer records. The permission also covers:

  • the PixelYourSite info box on order screens and user profiles
  • deleting report data
  • the reports tools in the AI connector

Customer Data Export

Roles picked here can download files that contain real customer records:

  • the ChatGPT file from Reports
  • Custom Audience and LTV files
  • Google Customer Export
  • the Meta offline conversions export
  • the plugin Logs, which can contain customer data

How the options work together

  • General access comes first. In the Reports and Export lists, you can only pick roles that already have General plugin use. If you remove a role from General plugin use, it also loses Reports and Export access.
  • Only site administrators can change these lists. Other roles with plugin access see them as read-only.
  • Head & Footer scripts need one more permission. A role can only edit custom Head & Footer code if WordPress also gives it the unfiltered_html capability.
  • Updating from an older version: the Reports and Export lists start with the same roles you had already allowed to use the plugin, so nobody loses access they had before.
  • Export/Import: these permissions aren’t included when you export a Site Profile to another site.
