Reviews for Google Merchant
This feed is not a product feed. It’s a Google Merchant Reviews feed (for “Product ratings” / “merchant reviews” programs), used to send review data (ratings + review text + product identifiers) to Google so your products can show:
- star ratings in Shopping listings / free listings, and sometimes in ads (depending on eligibility)
- aggregated product rating info tied to the right products
You generate the feed in the plugin, then upload it / schedule-fetch it in Google Merchant Center (in the “Product ratings / reviews feeds” area).
Settings in this screen (what each does)
Feed basics
- Feed’s Name
Internal name for you (ex: “GM Reviews – EN”). - Feed’s Type: Reviews for Google Merchant
Chooses Google’s reviews feed format. - File name (without extension)
Optional. Useful if you export multiple review feeds. - Regenerate Feed / Start regeneration from
How often and when the feed is rebuilt. Set this to match how often new reviews come in (daily is common).
Filters (what reviews/products get included)
These filters control which items are included in the reviews feed.
Inclusion toggles
- Add products or categories with the “exclude” option turned ON
If enabled, you’re telling the plugin to include items that are marked “exclude” (usually you don’t want that). Most stores leave this OFF. - Show main variable product item
Include the parent variable product (instead of exporting only variations). - Show main grouped product item
Include grouped product “parent” items. - Show main bundle product item
Include bundle “parent” items.
Price range
- Price bigger / smaller
Only include items whose price is within your limits. Handy if you only want reviews for a certain price segment.
Category / product type / availability filters
- Select Product Categories / Select Product Types
Pick exactly what goes into the feed. - Stock (dropdown)
Include all products vs only in-stock (depends on your choice here). - Sale (dropdown)
Filter by on-sale vs not on sale. - Visibility: Public
Typically keep “Public” so you don’t send hidden/private items.
Rating filter
- Rating: 1–5 stars
Include only reviews of selected star values.
Example: if you uncheck 1–2 stars, the feed will only export 3–5 star reviews.
Product Titles Settings (how product names appear in the feed)
- Use custom titles
If your store has optimized product titles (or feed-specific titles), this uses those instead of the default WooCommerce title. - Add variation title in the product name
Useful for variable products (ex: “T-Shirt – Blue – L”). - Remove capital letters from product titles
Normalizes titles for cleaner feed output.
SKU / GTIN / MPN (how Google matches reviews to products)
Google needs a reliable way to connect each review to the correct product in Merchant Center.
- SKU: Add product SKU field (if value exists)
Adds SKU into the feed when available. Helpful if your product feed also uses SKU. - GTIN
Choose where GTIN comes from (and it can override global settings). GTIN is best when you have real barcodes. - MPN
Choose where MPN comes from. Useful for branded/manufactured products without GTIN.
Best practice
- If you sell standard retail products: use GTIN whenever you have it.
- If you sell custom products: SKU/MPN may be all you have—keep it consistent with your product feed.
Examples (practical setups)
1) Only export high-quality reviews (4–5 stars)
- Rating: ✅ 4 stars, ✅ 5 stars; ❌ 1–3 stars
- Visibility: Public
- Stock: In stock only (optional)
2) Only export reviews for a specific category
- Select Product Categories → choose “Shoes”
- Show main variable product item: ON (if shoes have sizes/colors)
3) Variable products: make names unambiguous
- Add variation title in the product name: ON
So “Sneaker – Size 42” reviews map cleanly.
4) Make matching bulletproof
- SKU: ON
- GTIN: set it if you have it
- Keep your product feed IDs and review feed identifiers aligned (same SKU/GTIN/MPN source).
