Order Profit Calculation

Last updated: February 12, 2026

When an order is created, Cost of Goods calculates the Order Cost and Order Profit and saves them on the order (as order metadata).
This “locks” the numbers for reporting, even if product costs change later.

Where to view Order Cost & Profit

  1. Go to WooCommerce → Orders.
  2. In the orders list, you’ll see extra columns:
  • Order Cost
  • Order Profit
  1. Click an order to open it. Inside the order screen you’ll see a summary box with:
  • Order Cost
  • Order Profit
  • Shipping Cost
  • Shipping Profit (when shipping costs are configured/used)

Recalculate (when costs changed after the order)

If you update product/variation/category/global costs after an order was placed, the saved Cost/Profit values won’t update automatically.

Use Recalculate to refresh the order numbers using your current costs and settings:

  • From the order edit screen (inside the order)
  • Or directly from the orders list (via the Order Cost/Profit column action)

This is useful after:

  • bulk cost imports
  • changing category/global rules
  • adjusting shipping cost rules
  • switching the “with tax / without tax” profit setting
