Field Mapping

Last updated: June 29, 2026

Field mapping controls what data is written to each field in the generated feed. You configure mapping per feed in the feed editor, under the Field Mapping section.

Each field has a dropdown where you select the EDD data source — for example, map Title to the product title, or map Brand to a custom meta field or a fixed value. Required fields must be mapped before the feed can be saved.

Required fields

These fields must be present in a valid feed. If any are missing or empty on a product, that product may be skipped or flagged in the diagnostics report.

ID

The EDD download post ID. Defaults to the product ID. Must be unique within the feed — if the same ID appears more than once, all duplicate entries are ignored by the platform.

For products with variable pricing, the plugin uses a compound ID in the format downloadID-priceID (e.g. 42-0, 42-1) so each price option gets a distinct entry.

Title

The product title. Max 150 characters. You can enable Capitalise Every First Letter to apply title case. For subscription products, if Auto-fix Subscription Titles is enabled, the duration and label are appended automatically.

Description

The product description. Max 10,000 characters. Supports title case capitalisation. Pulls from the standard EDD product description by default.

Link

The product URL. Defaults to the product permalink. If the Quick Page/Post Redirect plugin is active and Use Redirect URL is enabled in the Google Merchant feed settings, the redirect URL is used instead.

Featured Image

The URL of the product’s featured image. This is the main image shown in ads.

Price and Tax

Price

The product price including the currency code (e.g. 29.99 USD). For variable pricing products, each price option generates its own feed item with its own price.

Tax

Controls whether tax is included or excluded from the price written to the feed. Options:

  • Include tax in price — the price is recalculated to include tax based on your EDD tax settings.
  • Exclude tax from price — the price is recalculated to exclude tax.

Google’s guidance: include VAT for all countries except US, Canada, and India. For those three, do not include tax.

If your EDD tax settings are configured per customer location (rather than a flat base rate), an additional Apply tax for dropdown appears so you can target a specific country.

Remove Currency

When enabled, the currency code is omitted from the price field. Use only when the platform requires a numeric-only price value.

Additional fields

Brand

The product brand. Required by Google Merchant Center. You can map it to an EDD product field or custom meta, and define a fallback value used when the mapped source is empty. Alternatively, set a global value applied to all products in the feed — useful when all your products share the same brand (e.g. your company name). Defaults to the site name.

MPN

Manufacturer Part Number. A unique identifier assigned by the manufacturer. Defaults to the EDD product ID if no custom source is mapped.

GTIN

Global Trade Item Number — includes UPC, EAN, JAN, and ISBN. Map this to a custom meta field if your products have GTINs. Max 100 characters. Most digital products don’t have GTINs; use Identifier Exists = NO in the feed options if that’s the case.

Is Bundle

Indicates whether the product is a merchant-defined bundle — a grouping of different products sold together at a single price. Values: true or false. Relevant for Google Merchant.

Custom Labels

Five custom label fields are available (Custom Label 0 through Custom Label 4). These are free-text fields you can use to group products in your ad campaigns by values of your choosing — for example: seasonal, clearance, best-seller, sale.

Custom labels are not shown to customers. They are only used internally for campaign segmentation inside the advertising platform.

Product images for ads

Two additional image fields appear in the feed editor and are also configurable per product via the per-product settings meta box:

Carousel Ad Image (1080×1080 recommended) — the image used in carousel ad formats.

Single Product Ad Image (1200×628 recommended) — the image used in single-product ad formats.

These fields use images you upload directly in the product editor rather than the standard featured image.

If the Mashshare or Yoast SEO plugins are active, their social sharing images also become available as sources in the image field dropdowns.
