Facebook for WooCommerce and PixelYourSite

Last updated: September 26, 2026

You can run PixelYourSite together with the Facebook for WooCommerce extension. PixelYourSite detects the extension and makes sure the Meta Pixel is not added twice: it takes over the tracking, and Facebook for WooCommerce keeps doing what it is good at, the catalog sync and the Facebook Shop.

What Facebook for WooCommerce does

Facebook for WooCommerce is the extension developed by Meta. It does three things:

  • It adds a basic Meta Pixel to the site.
  • It creates a Product Catalog and synchronizes your WooCommerce products with it.
  • It connects the store to a Facebook Shop and can add Messenger to your site.

The pixel it adds has no options: you cannot add events or parameters, and it sends a limited set of data. It is fine for simple campaigns, but it is not a tracking setup.

What PixelYourSite does when both are active

One pixel, controlled by PixelYourSite

PixelYourSite makes sure the Meta Pixel is not loaded twice. Everything pixel-related is controlled by PixelYourSite: the pixel and the Conversions API, the automatic events, your own custom events, and all the WooCommerce events with their parameters.

Dynamic Ads with the Facebook for WooCommerce catalog

Dynamic Ads only work when the product IDs in your events match the IDs in your Product Catalog. When Facebook for WooCommerce is active, PixelYourSite adds an option under its WooCommerce tab: use the Facebook for WooCommerce content_id logic. Turn it ON if you plan to use their catalog for Dynamic Ads; the content_ids parameter of every WooCommerce event will then follow the same logic as the catalog, so products match.

Catalog alternatives

The catalog created by Facebook for WooCommerce cannot filter products (categories, tags, product status, sales) or apply tax rules, and it does not work well with WPML or multi-currency stores. If you need any of that, use our Product Catalog Feed for WooCommerce; PixelYourSite sends the same product IDs your feed uses.

What you get

  • From PixelYourSite: the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, deduplicated; the automatic events; your own events; every WooCommerce event with product IDs, value and currency, ready for Dynamic Ads.
  • From Facebook for WooCommerce: the Product Catalog, the Facebook Shop synchronization and Messenger.
