ConsentMagic & other WordPress Consent Plugins

PixelYourSite can work with most consent plugins, but the best / most reliable setup is ConsentMagic (built for PixelYourSite, with native integration).

Why Consent matters

Consent controls when pixels/tags are allowed to load and fire. This affects:

  • compliance (GDPR/CCPA/ePrivacy, etc.)
  • tracking quality (avoid “random” partial tracking)
  • Google features like Consent Mode and modeled conversions (when used)

ConsentMagic (Recommended)

You’ll see the “Consent Magic – Recommended” notice when ConsentMagic is installed but not active.

What to do

  1. Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins
  2. Activate ConsentMagic
  3. Configure your consent rule(s)

Why we recommend it
ConsentMagic is designed to do the hard parts properly:

  • Geo-targeted rules (show different consent rules by location)
  • Block scripts & cookies until consent (when required)
  • Cookie/script scanner to detect trackers and help inform users
  • Category-based consent (Analytics / Marketing / etc.)

PixelYourSite is fully integrated with ConsentMagic, and it also includes consent filters and built-in support for things like Google Consent Mode and Meta LDU controls.

Other consent plugins (supported, but not guaranteed)

PixelYourSite can integrate with third-party consent plugins, but we can’t guarantee they handle consent correctly in every setup. If something breaks, you’ll usually need to contact the consent plugin’s support team.

Status: “not detected”

If a plugin shows , it means it’s not active on the site (so PixelYourSite can’t integrate with it yet).

Cookiebot integration

Cookiebot uses standard consent categories like Statistics and Marketing.

Enable Cookiebot integration
Turn on the toggle, then map PixelYourSite tags to Cookiebot categories:

  • Meta Pixel consent category → usually marketing
  • Google Analytics consent category → usually statistics
    If you use GA advertising features, use marketing (as noted in the UI).
  • Google Ads consent category → usually marketing
  • Pinterest / Bing / TikTok consent category → usually marketing

These fields must match the category names you use in Cookiebot.

Cookie Notice integration

Enable the toggle to let Cookie Notice control PixelYourSite tracking based on consent.

CookieYes integration

Enable the toggle to use the CookieYes → PixelYourSite integration. (In some setups, “track before consent” options won’t apply because CookieYes manages consent in its own way.)

Real Cookie Banner integration

Enable the toggle to connect Real Cookie Banner consent to PixelYourSite tag/event firing.

Practical recommendation

  • If you want the smoothest setup with the fewest edge cases: use ConsentMagic.
  • If you already run a different CMP: enable its integration here, then test (no-consent vs accept-all) to confirm tags behave exactly as expected.
