Automatic Events in PixelYourSite

Automatic Events are ready-made events PixelYourSite can track on any site (even without WooCommerce/EDD). They capture common user actions like clicks, scroll, video engagement, form submits, downloads, search, login/signup, etc.

Why they matter

  • Build better audiences (engaged visitors, video watchers, form starters, etc.)
  • Measure micro-conversions (so you’re not blind between PageView → Purchase)
  • Create “warm” signals you can optimize ads for (especially when you don’t have many purchases yet)

How they work

  • You enable the events you want.
  • PixelYourSite fires them automatically when the action happens.
  • The events can be sent to your enabled tags (Meta, GA4, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, Bing, Reddit) and/or pushed to GTM dataLayer.

Track Internal Links

What it tracks: clicks on links that stay on your domain.

Platforms: Facebook, GA4, Google Ads (conversion label optional), Bing, Pinterest, TikTok, Reddit, GTM dataLayer

Track Outbound Links

What it tracks: clicks on links to other domains.

Platforms: Facebook, GA4, Google Ads (conversion label optional), Bing, Pinterest, TikTok, Reddit, GTM dataLayer
Event name: OutboundClick
TikTok event name: ClickButton
Reddit event name: ClickButton (custom)
Parameters: text, target_url

GA4 note: GA4 can track outbound clicks automatically (event: click). If you prefer PixelYourSite’s event names, you can disable GA4’s built-in tracking for outbound clicks.


Track Embedded YouTube or Vimeo Video Views

What it tracks: video engagement for embedded YouTube/Vimeo (play + progress, depending on settings).

Platforms: Facebook, GA4, Google Ads (conversion label optional), Bing, Pinterest, TikTok, Reddit, GTM dataLayer
Event name: WatchVideo
Reddit event name: WatchVideo (custom)
Parameters: progress, video_type, video_title, video_id

Options:

  • Track YouTube embedded video
  • Track Vimeo embedded video
  • Trigger for play value (Play)
  • (GA4) optional: Disable YouTube videos for Google Analytics

GA4 note: GA4 can auto-track YouTube embeds with video and video_progress. You can disable GA4’s built-in tracking if you want only PixelYourSite video events.


Track Tel Links

What it tracks: clicks on tel: links.

Track Email Links

What it tracks: clicks on email links (ex: mailto:).

Track Forms

What it tracks: form submits (or submit button clicks when a true “submit” can’t be detected).

Reddit event name: FormSubmit (custom)
Parameters: text, form_class, form_id

How it fires:

  • For supported plugins, it fires on successful submission:
    • Contact Form 7, Forminator, WPForms, WS Forms, Formidable Pro, Ninja Forms, Fluent Forms
  • For other forms, it fires on submit button click
  • Detected examples: Contact Form 7, Elementor Form

Option: “Fire the event only for supported plugins, when the form is successfully submitted.”

Tip: If you need different event names (Lead, etc.), use event triggers.


Track User Signup

What it tracks: WordPress account registration.

Track User Login

What it tracks: WordPress login.

Track Downloads

What it tracks: clicks that open files matching the configured extensions.

Platforms: Facebook, GA4, Google Ads (conversion label optional), Bing, Pinterest, TikTok, Reddit, GTM dataLayer
Event name: Download
Reddit event name: Download (custom)
Parameters: download_type, download_name, download_url

Setting: “Extensions of files to track as downloads” (your list: docexejspdfppttgzzipxls)

GA4 note: GA4 can auto-track downloads as file_download. You can disable GA4’s built-in tracking if you want only PixelYourSite download events.


Track Comments

What it tracks: new comments submitted.

Platforms: Facebook, GA4, Google Ads (conversion label optional), Bing, Pinterest, TikTok, Reddit, GTM dataLayer

Track AdSense

What it tracks: clicks on AdSense ads.

Track Page Scroll

What it tracks: scroll depth.

Setting: “Trigger for scroll value” (example: 30)

GA4 note: GA4 auto-tracks 90% scroll with event scroll. You can disable GA4’s built-in scroll tracking if you want PixelYourSite scroll thresholds instead.


Track Time on Page

What it tracks: time spent on a page.

Platforms: Facebook, GA4, Google Ads (conversion label optional), Bing, Pinterest, TikTok, Reddit, GTM dataLayer
Event name: TimeOnPage

Setting: “Trigger for time” (example: 30 seconds)


Track 404 Pages

What it tracks: visits to 404/not-found pages.
