When is the WatchVideo Event fired?
The event will fire automatically for all the videos embedded on your site when:
- the video starts to play
- 10% was played
- 50% was played
- 90% was played
- 100% was played
What parameters does the event have?
- event_trigger: it can be play, 10%, 50%, 90% or 100%
- contet_name: the name of the page where the video is embedded
- post_type: the type of the post where the video is embedded (post, page, product and so on)
- the URL parameters (utm_campaign, utm_source, when they exist)
How to use the WatchVideo Event
Optimize your Facebook ads for video views on your website
The WatchVideo event is not a standard Facebook event, so you will need to create a Custom Conversion first
You can have a Custom Conversion for all your videos, or for one or a few of your videos (using the video_id, or video_title parameters).
You can also target only people that saw a certain percent of the video, like 10%, 50%, 90% or 100%.
Retarget people that watched videos on your website
You can create Custom Audiences from people that saw all your videos, or a particular video.
You can retarget anyone who started the video or narrow down to only those who saw 10%, 50%, 90% or 100%.
You can use the other event’s parameters if you need to create more focused audiences.
